A Friend in Need

A sorority sister and friend of mine needs your help. Her name is Jessica. She is an absolutely fantastic person-beautiful on the inside and out. I preface this next statement by using the transition, "unfortunately," but this is no reflection of Jessica's attitude: she is extremely sun-shinin' positive. Unfortunately, Jessica has Cystic Fibrosis.

She has been nothing but optimistic through this whole journey, and I want to do something to help. She is raising money because she needs a double lung transplant. I know right now is a tough time for a lot of people. However, if you find yourself in a place where you can help, please visit her website. That's all I ask. Thank you all so much.

Better Late Than...

Well, you know the saying. I promised some photos from my last Christmas break (ever). I had a lot of fun in my almost 4 weeks off from school. I was a little too spoiled because it was incredibly hard to come back. Oh well, here I am a month later, finishing my.last.semester.of.law.school (!!!) I also included some pictures from the fun, fabulous wedding I was in two weekends ago. Have a great week.

Gabe's Graduation. I love this photo in the Swamp.

Out at Gator City after the grad festivities. Kyle and I ran into our friend from Jax.

Me and Pop Pop at Gabe's delish grad dinner.

Watching the bowl game on our front lawn. My bro set up the projector and screen.

New Year's Eve in Ft. Lauderdale with high school friends.

Me & MG at the Phins/Steelers game. MG as a Steelers fan. M
e as a Phins fan (embarrassingly so).

Some of my dearest friends and sorority sisters at M's rehearsal dinner.

Me and Kyle @ M and D's wedding. Such a fun time. I even danced out at the reception to Miley Cyrus, Party in the USA! Lawnmower/sprinkler much?

Ciao for Now!

I am taking the work week off. No, no, not for vacation, unfortunately. I am taking a blogcation for the week. There is tons going on here in CTKland so I figure it is best for me to focus for a few days. I will be back in action this weekend, and hopefully, with some fun pictures. I will also be ready (and excited) to read all of your blogs again. Hope you all have a great week in the meantime.

Ciao Ciao!

What's Better Than Receiving a Snuggie for a Christmas Gift?

A: The opportunity to wear it at a Snuggie Pub Crawl, of course!

If you follow me on Twitter, you know that I stumbled upon one of the best.pubcrawls.ever this weekend in Charleston. Kyle and I spotted this fantastic little poster at a bar the night before the event.

We decided that there was no better place in the world to be at 12:30 the next day than at Wild Wings to witness the fantasticness. Let me just tell you, even I, world class Snuggie lover, completely underestimated the Snuggie wonders. I am talking belted Snuggies, people! And the best part? These blanket-with-sleeves-wearing folks were raising money for charity.

Behaving like a journalist at the scene of a miracle, I questioned several participants. My investigative journalism tactics revealed that a group of gals got together the night before to decorate their Snuggies and increase their pub crawling ability-you know, sewing ribbons to the back for support and such.

Apparently, Snuggie Pub Crawls are pretty popular all over. A Google search revealed many similar crawls in many major cities. The lady in charge of the Charleston crawl mentioned that they are going to make it an annual event and try to break the Guinness Book of World Records. Yes, there is a record for most people at a Snuggie Pub Crawl. I am seriously considering attempting this challenge. Is anyone in the Columbia area interested in a Snuggie Pub Crawl?

Tory Burch & Speedy Gonzales

My dear friend PJ is an instiGATOR. (No lie, she went to UF too). For instance, I will go out to dinner with all intentions that it will be an early night. 2 hours (and glasses of wine) later, I am performing my standard dance moves. Well, in true PJ fashion, she sent me a short email that read: "Andale! Andale! A Reva! A Reva!". Said email included a link to the Tory Burch web site. What this Mexican cartoon loving friend did was unthinkable. Knowing I was in the market for Revas, she directed me to the TB sale page. See below for my mail today & have a great weekend!

Turn on the Pointer Sisters, and JUMP for Joy!

My Bar Application is (FINALLY!) safely resting its little Bar App head on a State Supreme Court pillow. The only hiccup? Well, apparently my notary forgot to grace my application with her Jane Hancock. She only stamped the dang thing. Fortunately for me, the women at the courthouse must have just gotten back from a nice lunch because she gave me a week to get it to her without charging me the extra moolah (read: almost $400). WOOT! I would celebrate, but I am shoulder deep in a project for the journal. Oh well- I DID just have a long, relaxing break. I will post pics from my fantastic Christmas break shortly. What are you all up to this weekend?

New Year's Eve Plans & Resolutions

Break out the bubbly and my new stemless champagne glasses...

because we are going to party like it's 2010 (side note: 2010 still sounds so futuristic to me, like we should all be celebrating the new year in space suits).

This New Year's Eve, I will be kicking it poolside during the day in downtown Ft. Lauderdale with high school friends. That night, we plan on having a small gathering at my friend BGS's condo, and then hitting the Riverfront bars.

Being from South Florida, we usually try to avoid Ft. Lauderdale. It can be an overpriced circus on New Yr's. However, we have a place to stay, and that means no one will be driving. Plus, when you are with friends, you can make any place great. Right?

This year my New Year's resolutions have an overarching theme. I am adopting an "everything in moderation" attitude. In CTK terms: I do not need to drink a 12 pack of diet coke a day. 2 sodas should suffice.

The moderation theme will also help me with another problem I have: I am one of those people that when I do something, I jump in head first. If I do not have time to dedicate 100% of my energy, it is not happening. For example, when I decide I am going to start running, I train for a half marathon. While this may sound like a good thing, it actually has had a detrimental affect on my life. If I do not have the time to train for a half marathon, I am not running. Therefore, I think realizing moderation is a good thing can help me in a few aspects of my life (1) cutting back on the bad, and (2) realizing that something does not need to have the max amount of good for it to be good for me. If I have time for a 2 mile run, but not a 5, do the 2! I do not have to run 5 miles every time I want to exercise.

My mom informed me that the problem with having a general resolution is that they are easy to forget or break. So, I am taking my moderation theme and making these goals:

1. I will not drink more than 3 diet cokes a day (a 12oz bottle counts as 2).
2. I will exercise (for whatever time, distance I have time for) at least 3 days a week.
3. I will do at least one nice thing a week for myself. This nice thing can even be just laying in the sun or reading a good book.
4. I will do something charitable every month, despite the size of the donation (of time or money). I will donate what I can.
5. I will contact at east one friend every month whom I haven't spoken with in awhile. Contact can be a text, voice mail, email, whatever. It doesn't have to mean finding time in my day for a 3 hour phone call.

I feel good about this. What are your resolutions?

I wish everyone a wonderful New Year. I hope 2010 brings you a wealth of happiness.
